Lorrie French of Pacific Union GMAC Real Estate Enjoys Work for 20 Years

When Lorrie French became a REALTOR® in 1986 she was advised not to become friends with clients. More than 20 years later with an impressive portfolio of satisfied customers to show for her efforts, French said that was the best advice she ever ignored.
“The biggest reward I receive from my job is the people I meet. I don’t know how to avoid becoming friends with my clients,” explained French, who works at the South Beach office of Pacific Union GMAC Real Estate. “I absolutely love what I do and only wish I had started sooner when I first became interested in real estate in the 1970s.”
Passionate about real estate and providing valuable client service, French disregards the notion among some disbelievers who, thanks to the Internet, think a REALTOR® is now unnecessary in the transaction equation. Buyers and sellers without doubt should have representation and an expert negotiating on their behalf, she said. “Do not leave your largest investment to chance. Hire a professional who works for you even after the close of escrow,” said French. Her approach is intuitive and low pressure.
Consistently over the years, more than 90% of French’s business comes from referrals. Many of her clients have returned two or three times to buy and sell properties and then refer her to their friends.

A San Francisco native who spent her first career as a restaurant owner, French truly understands the heartbeat of the City. She works equally with buyers and sellers and does not limit her expertise to a particular neighborhood or type of housing. From Pacific Heights to the outer Mission District, first-time buyers to serious investors, single-family homes to condos, she does it all. Her secret to success: be honest and direct with clients, and stay in tune with the constant changes in the industry.

French is politically active in the local San Francisco Association of REALTORS® and the statewide California Association of REALTORS®, serving as a board director for both organizations. She is also associated with the National Association of REALTORS® and the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. French is active in the American Cancer Society, Friends of the Urban Forest, with neighborhood associations, and is an anti-graffiti volunteer.

“I can’t see myself doing anything else,” said French, a 23-year breast cancer survivor who keeps fit and youthful by practicing Bikram yoga. “When I retire and relax, I’d like to give my knowledge to children in a Third World country. But I don’t plan to retire anytime soon.”
